A Katana fit for… A dragon!

In my last post I may have mentioned how looking at the dizzying array of modern day samurai swords that are available is almost sleep inducing for me. So I’m always stoked when I come across things like this:

Dragon Claw Custom Katana

Now this is a beautiful and unique blade. Literally. The blade of this Katana is actually laser etched with a pattern that looks for all the world like a beautiful dragons skin. This single feature is perhaps the most striking thing about this sword. But it doesn’t end there.

The guard is made up of 4 claws, looking like the outstretched talons of a dragon. The grip continues the dragon scale design, even incorporating different dorsal/ventral dragon scale patterns! That kind of attention to detail always blows me away. And the pommel is capped with an awesome dragon head. Of a very menacing variety.

Overall, I just love this katana. Definitely sets itself apart from the shiny steel sea of katanas on the market… Me likey. Me want… 🙂

But it seems that, with the pattern etched on the blade, you can’t sharpen it really… perhaps not.

Not at all, the laser etching is only on the surface. It could be sharpened if needed, but seeing as this sword is really just intended to be a wall hanger, there wouldn’t be any reason to.
