A Wizards Sword…

I am a fan of the Harry Potter movies, though I must admit I am several movies behind in the series. Nonetheless, I did watch “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” in the theater and was rather intrigued by the sword that Harry pulled from the sorting hat to defend himself against the Basilisk in the “Chamber of Secrets”:

This sword has an interesting quality about it. the blade is almost rapier like in appearance, though it appeared to be somewhat smaller and employed a much simpler cross guard. In fact, the overall appearance of the sword could easily pass for an over-sized wand of sorts, if you overlooked the presence of the cross guard.

Nonetheless it is a pretty cool looking sword, though still a bit flashy for my taste. Certainly seems like the kind of elegant sword a wizard would use…

we don’t need no steenkeengk moderators on this forum. I was rather miffed about the whole affair myself, after book three came out I had heard that there had been a plan for it to be a thirteen book series the final four outlining his adventures after Hogwarts, however she decided to end it with book seven. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty well done in my opinion, but what happened there? Did she suffer a mathematical irregularity like Pierce Anthony did with his Magic of Xanth series which was only supposed to be a trilogy but turned into I believe it is thirty books now? But as for the sword itself which is what the post is really about, this is a really nice blade and the only one of goblin make that I can find in literature that doesn’t suck or look like it was pulled out of the rear end of a griffin. (Which is dangerous enough in its own right as a griffin’s feathers are razor sharp you know.)

I’m betting she got tired of being pressured into making more books and wanted a break. I have a feeling she will still keep writing, she may even do more HP, but it will be more fun for her without the pressure of having to live up to her fans expectations…
